Juneau, Alaska has a population of over 30 thousand. Originally a Gold mining town, Juneauites now thrive on an economy based off of Fishing, Mining but also Tourism. Also, as the State capital, Juneau's main employer is the State Government.

The Juneau Ice-field located north west of the town center is several times the size of the Pemberton Ice-field.

Avid alpinists and snowmachine enthusiasts flock to  Juneau to enjoy its beautiful but difficult to reach terrain. This proposed road would allow further development of the area, allowing access to the area with out a helicopter.
